Wyoming, where nature and visitors move in quiet harmony amid breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and the spirit of its people. Mahalo Nui to our dear friend Colleen, who invited us year after year — and when we finally went, the West welcomed us with wonder. We traveled through the carved faces of Mount Rushmore, the rising strength of the Crazy Horse Monument, the rugged mystery of The Badlands, Devils Tower and the timeless beauty of Yellowstone. Colleen’s husband, Cowboy Bob, guided us across long, open roads — not only to share the splendor of the West, but to show us the place he loves and calls home.
One of the sweetest moments of our visit was teaching a Hawaiian quilting class to a gracious and enthusiastic group of ladies at the Cody Senior Center. Their warmth made our time there unforgettable. Colleen also blessed us with the comfort of home: Hawaiian local kine lunches — Sweet Sour Spareribs on Saturday and Shoyu Chicken on Sunday — a taste of Hawai‘i carried all the way to Wyoming.
Mahalo to Colleen, her husband Cowboy Bob, the ladies of the Wyoming Quilt Guild, and everyone who participated in the Hawaiian Quilt workshop. Your kindness and aloha made our journey truly special. I hope to visit again real soon.
