Those are the quilt patterns I love when everything just flows from the center.  Joyce finally got her quilt cut, laid out and pinned.  The heleconia makes a beautiful and full design. Personal design for Joyce from John Serrao. Can’t wait to see the completed quilt.

…That it’s time to put away that needle and thread and breakout the sewing machine.  Our amazing and wonderful Margaret e-mailed  me this photo of her last hand-made quilt.  She explained that her fingers are too painful to do any type of hand sewing and quilting. Her story is not the first time I’ve heard it…

I’m beginning to think that’s Pat’s motto is , Challenge Yourself.  She’s always challenging herself to do more, climb higher, make the impossible…ha!.  Yep make the impossible here’s Pat’s next quilt design, The Hapuu Fern.  I don’t think anyone else would have taken this challenge.  I can’t wait to see the progress on this quilt….

Yep, I just can’t help myself. I had this on my FACEBOOK page but I just had to share it again.  Pat’s amazing money tree quilt.  A John design of course and I sincerely believe one of his best and we can’t forget Pat’s awesome quilting.   She did this quilt in record time too….

Our Toshie is quite small in stature BUT she loves making those large King and Queen size quilts. This quilt depicts the many hula implements dancers use when dancing the hula.  An amazing personal design by John Serrao for our amazing Certified instructor Toshie. 

  Watching a quilts beauty unfold before your eyes is amazing.  From Cutting, basting, applique to quilting it is Magic. The Woodrose.    

Some quilts just make you happy.  This quilt designed by John is actually for a twin size bed but Takako’s going to make a queen size quilt with the pattern. It’s going to be beautiful when complete.  

No one said it was going to be easy but when all is done it’s going to be an amazing quilt.

Only one week to baste and applique next prepping for quilting….

Yes, the next step is working on a larger quilted piece.  I was happily surprised when the Woodrose pattern was the design of choice for the next project. The flower is  found throughout Hawaii and a favorite among the many locals.  Can’t wait  to see it completed.

John doesn’t design birds because every time he designs a Hawaiian quilt with  birds  the quilter, John likes to say, flies or moves back to the mainland.  So no birds and no leaving but he designs orchids even dove orchids breaking that kapu.  Congratulations Ikumi for a beautiful quilt.  I hope you quilt with us…

Most Hawaiian Quilts have center Medallions but every once in while some quilts are designed with only a lei/border missing that center piece.  Still Beautiful, just a different style.  Enjoy Kimi’s amazing Kalo quilt.
