Congratulations to the Poakalani Ohana Quilters in Japan
It was an amazing show. 63 quilts in which 22 were new wall hangings and 1 large size quilt at their first showing. We are happy that the tradition of Hawaiian quilting will continue with these 22 quilting teachers in Japan. I hope to post more of these awesome quilts soon.

I finally completed all the graphics for the flowers of the 47 Japan Prefectures. My eyes are crossed but the designs came out beautiful. What a talent John has. The Gentian the flower for all our friends in the Nagano Prefecture.
埼玉県Saitama Prefecture – Primrose
One of my favorite ladies, Kumu Susie who lives in Saitama where the Primrose is their prefecture flower also one of my favorite flower.
秋田県 Akita Prefecture – Fukui Butterbur
Agriculture, Fishing and Forestry dominate the economy of Akita and the Fukui Butterbur is their designated flower. Designed by John Serrao
静岡県 Shizuoka Prefecture – Tsutsuji Azalea
The Tsutsuji loved and admired worldwide. Known to most as the Azalea this prefecture flower is for our friends in Shizuoka.
佐賀県 Saga Prefecture – Camphor Flower
The camphor tree grows big and strong but the flowers are dainty and small. For our friends in the Saga Prefecture. Like the Camphor tree this quilt symbolizes long life, strength and like the tiny flowers unexpected happy surprises.
高知県 Kochi Prefecture – Yamamomo
Some people call it the Mountain Peach but it’s known more for its fruit than it’s petal-less flower. For our friends in Kochi Prefecture here is your Hawaiian Quilt Design for your Yamamomo.
