Croton and Ti Leaf

Note from Pat:  Here’s the latest…it’s called a “reverse” quilt because the pattern is actually cut from the top fabric, sort of like a silhouette, rather than the pattern being cut, then sewn on top of the fabric (sorry, I probably didn’t explain things too clearly, haha). At any rate, this is more difficult to do, as you have to sort of “think backwards” when you are cutting. All of the colored fabrics are actually under the tan fabric. I had the idea for the pattern from seeing a croton bush along my walking route. After trying to draw it for our artist John Serrao, I finally said…”can you design a pattern from this idea?”, and this is what he came up with…genius! I’ll post a picture of the actual croton bush so you can see the challenge he faced. It was his idea to add the green ti leaf design, and I think it was a good one. Many thanks, John!

Building Renovation Kanaina Building – Update May, 2017

February 19, 2017February 19, 2017
Aloha Everyone, We were all  aware that the Kanaina Building was scheduled for renovations a year ago.  We are now getting closer to the renovation date so we will be on a week to week notice for the quilting classes.  Please keep checking weekly for an updated status.  We will be at the Iolani Palace  through the month of June but haven't gotten any update for the month of July.  We have found a temporary home at the Bishop Museum when the renovations begin and will let you know when the time gets closer.. Thank you for your patience.   Cissy
